Aside from the beautifully groomed pistes, there are numerous other winter activities to try out, including ice climbing, snow-shoeing, ice skating and sledging.
Villars in not just a winter and ski resort. In summer, you have access to more than 300 km of paths for walks through one of the largest nature reserves in Switzerland, as well as 150 km of mountain bike trails. Golfers will find an 18-hole course, an opportunity to play at 1,600 m altitude.
The residences are within easy access of the Roc d’Orsay Telecabine station and the main amenities in the bustling village centre. International access is made easy with Sion airport just 45 minutes away and the cities of Montreux and Geneva, only 20 and 90 minutes drive respectively. In winter, the skiing area of Villars incorporates the two smaller areas of Villars/Bretaye and Gryon and is also linked via the route over Le Meilleret with the Les Diablerets skiing area, including a skiable glacier area at 3,000 m. The link with Les Diablerets gives easy access to over 220km of pistes and also to the glacier at Les Diablerets (3,000m). The ski lifts are now very modern and are virtually all new thanks to a huge investment in the last 4 or 5 years.
In addition there are four snow parks, a snow kindergarten, 44 km of cross-country skiing trails, sledging runs and numerous winter walking routes.
Villars is one of the few top league ski resorts which can truly claim to be a dual season resort. In summer, you will enjoy hiking, mountain biking, swimming, rock climbing, hang gliding, paragliding, horse riding, playing golf, and sailing on nearby Lake Geneva. Villars 18-hole golf course was founded in 1922. It is situated on a South facing plateau at an altitude of 1,660 m, facing the Alps and the Mont Blanc.
The proximity to Lake Geneva and Montreux just 20 minutes away makes this an ideal base for summer holidays. Villars also boasts two nearby international Alpine boarding schools; Beau Soleil and Aiglon College.

Villars is in Canton Vaud, which has been one of the most liberal of the cantons for foreign buyers. However, as prices have been rising so fast the canton introduced a new rule in January 2008 to try to stop property speculation - foreigners buying now may not resell for 5 years. Foreign purchase permits are normally easy to obtain, and the process takes 3-6 months.
Payment schedule:
10-15% of the purchase price at the time of the signature of the agreement 3 -6 months later, as soon as the investor has gotten his/her purchase permit, you have to pay the balance. The property is then transferred under his/her ownership.
